Amanda Knapp joined Riverway Title Company’s Commercial Business Development team in the fall of 2014. Prior to joining Riverway Title Company, Ms. Knapp worked for Re/Max Real Estate here in Houston. She attended Texas Tech University, where she received her Bachelors of Business Administration for Management and Marketing in December of 2012. Ms. Knapp is a native Houstonian, who in her free time enjoys running, going to Houston sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.
Andrew Wheat exemplifies customer satisfaction. With over a decade of commercial title and escrow experience, Mr. Wheat is well versed in all aspects of the commercial real estate transaction. Prior to joining Riverway Title Company, Mr. Wheat served as a Commercial Title and Escrow Officer for First American Title Company’s National Commercial Services Houston Division. He has abstracted, examined, and closed commercial transactions in nearly every state in the U.S.
Mr. Wheat holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Language from Texas State University in San Marcos. He is proficient in Spanish and French.
In his free time, Mr. Wheat enjoys coaching and watching his two sons and daughter play soccer and lacrosse.
After graduating with honors from both UT-Austin and UH Law School in the early 1970’s, Bill started his real estate legal career at Reynolds, Allen and Cook (RAC), a downtown firm which broke-off from what is now Bracewell, Guilliani. He served as Partner and Director of its real estate division, as well as an officer of the Houston Bar Association real estate section and speaker for various State Bar and HBA CLE programs. He left RAC in 1985 to serve as President and General Counsel of the Clark Companies, a multi-state real estate development company with over 300 employees in six states. In the late 1980’s, he returned to practice law with another downtown law firm, Bonham, Carrington and Fox (BCF). He served as Senior Partner and Director of its real estate division and on its Executive Committee until the mid-90’s, when he formed his own law firm, as well as a real estate brokerage/investment/management company. Bill acted as managing partner for dozens of real estate investment groups he formed with other lawyers and partners, some of which continue to-date. In early 2004, Bill was asked to serve as Senior Commercial Escrow Officer and Closer for Texas American Title Company, then the largest privately owned title company in Texas. When it was purchased by a large New York public company in 2006 with intentions of being only residential-oriented, he joined Riverway Title Company as a Senior Commercial Escrow Officer and has been here ever since.
During his career, Bill has also served on various “pro bono” legal organizations for the State and Houston Bars and for his church (Chapelwood Methodist). He was personally active in various amateur sports on a national level and coached kids from ages 6-19 in many of those same sports. Bill has been married to his wife, Edith, for 46 years, and they have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.
After attending the University of Houston, Bonnie Platter joined her family’s plumbing supply business. She started her career learning and working in the showroom, assisting customers with their purchases for remodeling and new construction, and soon became the Executive Vice President. Mrs. Platter later sold the company and helped the new owners with their daily needs. During this time, Mrs. Platter also served on the advisory board for Metro Bank and enjoyed the opportunity to introduce its bankers to numerous business owners on the East End of Houston. In 1998, Mrs. Platter began her career in the title industry as a Marketer for Commonwealth Title. She joined Riverway Title Company in 2008, and still enjoys the opportunity to assist her clients with their residential and commercial transactions.
Damian Smith joined Riverway Title Company in February 2016 as Residential Division Manager, and will also serve as Escrow Officer. Damian brings over a decade of experience in residential title in the Houston Area. Prior to joining our team, Mr. Smith served as Escrow Officer for The Elite Property Division at Veritas Title Partners, where he successfully managed a high volume of elite clientele in the Houston Area. Mr. Smith is well versed in the most complex real estate transactions, and has an unending desire to exceed his client’s expectations and cultivate business relationships.
Mr. Smith is a native Houstonian and an avid sports fan. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Jennifer, and their two beautiful young daughters.
Hunter Wright joined Riverway Title Company’s Business Development Team in May 2016. Prior to joining Riverway Title Company, Mr. Wright worked in Land Acquisition for Sudhoff Companies and Butler Burgher Group as an Appraisal Research Analysist here in Houston. He attended The Kinkaid School before later graduating from The University of Houston. Mr. Wright is a native Houstonian who enjoys playing sports, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Jesse Klingensmith began his career as an Escrow Officer with Riverway Title Company in 2007, where he specializes in acquisitions and refinances of multi-family, retail, and office buildings. Prior to joining Riverway Title Company, Mr. Klingensmith was a Sales Representative for Kraft Foods International.
Mr. Klingensmith holds a Business Administration degree from Baylor University. He enjoys volunteering for the HCESD 48 Fire Department and The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, as well as spending time with his wife, Lindsey, and their three children in Katy, Texas.
John D. Hammond is the President and CEO of Riverway Title Company.
In 1997, Mr. Hammond began his commercial title insurance career with Partners Title in Houston. In May of 2005 he joined First American Title – Tanglewood. Then in July of 2012, First American Title – Tanglewood became Riverway Title Company. In 2015, Mr. Hammond purchased Riverway Title Company.
Mr. Hammond has been in the Houston commercial real estate arena since 1982 as an owner, broker and lender. His knowledge of commercial real estate and title insurance helps him assist his clients in every facet of their commercial transaction from start to finish. With experience in all types of commercial property transactions, Mr. Hammond’s network of business contacts and relationships in the commercial real estate industry has made Riverway Title Company one of the premier title companies in Texas capable of handling any type of commercial transaction.
Mr. Hammond received his Bachelor of Business with honors and Masters Degree from the University of Houston. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Bayou City Breakfast Club, and Braeburn Country Club. He is a founding investor of the University Of Houston C.T. Bauer Graduate Real Estate Program where he currently serves on the Executive Advisory Board and the Finance Committee. He is also a founding stakeholder of the School of Entrepreneurship at the University Of Houston. Mr. Hammond serves on the Board of Directors of Texas Inter-Faith Housing Corporation, and is a Life Member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the University Of Houston Alumni Association.
Julie Elliott joined Riverway Title Company as Controller in September 2011. Prior to joining Riverway Title Company, Mrs. Elliott worked as an accountant for a large facility services company in Downtown Houston.
Mrs. Elliott holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelors of Science from Texas A&M University. She enjoys volunteering for The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and spending time with her husband, Chris, and their daughter in Webster, TX.
Justin joined Riverway Title Company in May of 2017. As our Vice President of Business Development, Justin brings a total commitment to achieving success for our customers. Using the skills he has gained as both an Energy Broker and Professional Athlete (playing two years as a professional golfer), Justin brings solid commitment, dedication, and clear understanding to achieve results for our customers.
Lawrence P. Carolla began his commercial real estate career in 1977 with The Horne Company, where he remained for 10 years. Mr. Carolla specialized in industrial leasing and sales. In 1987, he began working in real estate brokerage and development.
In 2002, Mr. Carolla joined Partners Title as Vice President of Marketing. He joined Riverway Title Company in the capacity of Commercial Business Development in August of 2009. Mr. Carolla attended The University of Texas majoring in Finance and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He obtained his Texas Real Estate License in 1977.
Mrs. Russell has been with Riverway Title for over 14 years and started as the company’s resident receptionist/administrative assistant in 2003. In 2016, she joined the Residential Division as an Escrow Assistant. Mrs. Russell is a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate of Texas Christian University – Fort Worth, TX. Prior to joining our staff, Mrs. Russell worked for Jacobs Engineering in Dallas, Texas, for seven years. She enjoys singing, acting and spending time with her husband, daughter and family in Missouri City, Texas.
Suzanne Turet has over 30 years of legal experience as a secretary, paralegal and executive administrative assistant in the areas of real estate, probate, guardianship and estate law, transactional, corporate, litigation, public law and public finance. In addition, she has extensive administrative and business experience, including human resources, data processing and bookkeeping. Mrs. Turet attended The University of Houston and has been with Riverway Title Company since July 2012.
As a mother of a child on the autism spectrum, Mrs. Turet is also an advocate for children with special needs, working both to raise funds, as well as to promote changes in state and federal legislation. She spends her free time with her husband, Chuck, and their three children.
